The last 108 years or so has been torturous for Chicago Cubs fans. Then, on Saturday, October 22, 2016, a day that shall live on in the memories of modern day Cubs fans forever, the Chicago Cubs won the NLCS and earned their first trip to the World Series since 1945!
The scene here in the city has been electric. Wrigleyville was packed with an estimated 300,000 on Saturday night. The bars were over-flowing, many charging much more than their normal cover charges for a game day. Fireworks were exploding in all the cities neighborhoods well into the night after the Cubs clinched.
At night, the Chicago skyline is dotted with Cubby Blue on most of the major skyscrapers. The Art Institute has donned Cubs caps on their world famous lion statues at their entrance. Cubs jersey's and W flags are present everywhere. Both Northsiders and Southsiders have joined in a sort of peaceful unity in honor the Chicago Cubs being in the World Series.

Whoa! The sports world is going crazy right now! So much going on and it is all too exciting to miss. To catch up with the sports world I have harnessed all the major news/results from the recent events. I am going to briefly hit on each sport and give a few predictions for the Masters, MLB, NBA, and NHL. Ready? Lets go!
NHL
Seems like the season just started but it will shortly be coming to an end. But I guess that's what happens when you are in a shortened and compressed 46 game season. Thanks lockout. The story early on in the season was the winning streak by the Chicago Blackhawks and then both the Anaheim Ducks and Pittsburgh Penguins went on their own winning streaks. Although no one has matched a start like the Blackhawks, it seemed for a while like the Penguins might be the best team. Now that Crosby is out the battle for best appears to be between the Ducks and Blackhawks.

The MLB season is officially now in full swing. See what I did there?
Silly puns aside, teams around the league are beginning to hit their early stride as players start to get a feel for the 2012 season.
Every year the city of Chicago looks forward to the start of baseball. Not only does the Windy City have 2 historic teams to help usher in the spring, but it also seems like people want to get past the cold winter as soon as possible. The sooner baseball gets going, the sooner the warmth arrives.

On November 20, the Northwestern Wildcats will be "hosting" the Univeristy of Illinois Fighting Illini at Wrigley Field in Chicago. This has been a great Big 10 rivalry for many years, but this may be the biggest yet. This will mark the first football game played at Wrigley Field since 1970 when the Bears were still calling it home.
Wrigley Field has been the home to the Cubs since 1914 and has held many other events besides baseball and football. Most recently, Wrigley Field was the host for the 2009 Winter Classic between the Blackhawks and Red Wings.
Sports Traveler will be offering tickets and travel packages to this great event. Packages will include hotel accommodations in downtown Chicago, tickets to the game, transportation, and much more. Check with Sports Traveler for updates on when the packages and game tickets will be available.
