The 2009 World Figure Skating Championships in Los Angeles was a thrilling experience for me last week. It was my first trip to see this championship and it did not disappoint. This competition was the qualifying round for various athletes and countries looking to compete at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Games.
The United States had a team of 15 skaters lead by Chicago native Evan Lysacek - who went on to win the Men's Event with one of the most extraordinary long programs I have ever seen him skate. Featuring two solid triple axels (one in combination), Evan didn't need a quad to pull off his first World Title against the best male skaters in the world. Other highlights for the US team were the silver medal rebound of ice dancing team Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto and the fantastic 9th place performance of Caydee Denney and Jeremy Barrett that brought the crowd to their feet. The final night was headlined by the ladies battle of the Asia with Yu-Na Kim of Korea and last years champion Mao

Have you ever wanted to go behind the scenes or beyond the game of your favorite sporting event? Now you can with Sports Traveler Experiences!
I decided to add this exciting new section of our site to highlight and introduce all new types of sports travel to you. These new travel ideas include everything from behind the scenes tours at the Tournament of Roses Parade before the Rose Bowl to Kentucky Derby Horse Farm Tours.
My favorite find are definately the Baseball Greats Cruises! These cruises all start from Ft. Lauderdale and sail for 7 or 10 nights. While on board ship both adults and kids can take part in baseball clinics, batting practices, and even coaching from some of baseball's best past and current players. Past attendees have included Rick Burleson, Cookie Rojas, Andre Dawson, Gary Peters, Amos Otis, Vida Blue, Bill Russell, Willie Horton, Earl Weaver, Randy Hundley, Rudy May, Rennie Stennet, Jack Billingham, Ed Kranepool, Gorman Thomas , Stan Bahnsen, and others. Wow!

Penn State Rose Bowl Travel Packages including roundtrip airfare from Harrisburg, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh are all on-sale and ready to book now!
Why Book Today?
Because there are only so many seats available on these charter aircrafts. Sure, you might think waiting will save you some money, but in fact, once we sell out these charter planes to Pasadena we will not be adding any more planes. Coming in from other cities? Then booking your airfare now is a must! Airfares on the major carriers will go up as the planes sell out. The airlines have cut back their schedules due to the the economy making seats on planes a premium.Choose from Penn State Rose Bowl Travel Packages or just buy your Rose Bowl Game Tickets and Tournament of Roses Parade Tickets - a must if attending the Rose Bowl!

I have recently completed a book devoted to traveling to Chicago for sporting events. The book is called Sports Traveler – Chicago (Lake Claremont Press) and it will be in bookstores nationwide in February 2009.
I am in the final editing process and wanted to reach out to all Chicago Sports Fans to ask if you would like to contribute to the book in a special section called “Chicago Fan Memories”.
Do you have a special memory of the first time you walked through the gates at Wrigley Field or Soldier Field? Do you have a favorite place that you visited while in Chicago that you would like to share with your fellow sports fans? Post it here and maybe we will pick your memory for the book!
Thanks -
